If you're keeping up, you'll notice that I skipped Day 24. I've never been to a meet, therefore I cannot provide photos of me at one.

I'm not a Sweet Lolita, nor am I a huge fan of Angelic Pretty, but I love the illustrations from Imai Kira. Such a unique style and kind of whimsical and elegant at the same time.

I just wanted to thank each and every one of you, new and old, for without all of you (my lovely followers) this blog probably wouldn't still be going and I wouldn't have the motivation and heart to write for it. Friday's Music Spotlight

Well, I made a lame attempt at this last Friday by tossing in a Bauhaus song from Youtube, but I promise I'll do better this time!.

Toady I'm featuring one of my favorite bands of all time, D'espairsRay. If you're into J-rock you're probably familiar with them, but did you know they recently disbanded because of Hizumi's vocal problems? Yeah, sad stuff and I'm really sad that I'll never be able to see them in concert now.

But I can still listen to and enjoy their music. I would like to share that with you as well:

A Personal Update.

I've been working pretty hard on getting that Lolita meme finished, but I thought - since I have time - that I would include a more personal update. As some of you know, I'm currently in college. I moved up to my dorm last Saturday and today is now my second day of classes. Things have been stressful, hectic, and mind-boggling.

Granted, I still have a bunch of decoration stuff to bring up next weekend but so far so good. I like my comforter set a lot, the black and white is really easy to coordinate with other colors, especially my favorite which is purple.

I have four classes on Monday. A math class, a Reading/Study Skills class, a Communication Studies class, and then Intro to East Asia. So far, I really like all my Monday classes. Two of them I have M/W/F, one of them is M/W, and my Asian class is only Mondays.

My Tues/Thurs classes on the other hand, not so hot. At least they're only two days a week though and the workload isn't going to be tremendous on both of them. I hate my Critical Reasoning class with a passion but I'll keep it. I was thinking about dropping it since it's a logical and skeptical thinking kind of class. Blegh.

My other T/Th class is Discovering College. A basic course all incoming freshman are required to take.

So that's basically it. I haven't really made many friends here yet, but my roommate's nice and there are a few girls from my hall I talk to on Facebook a bit. I think it would be a LOT easier if I had a phone and could coordinate meetups, but alas.

I'm out of touch with the times and must suffer for it. Oh well.

I hope the end of August is going well for all of you. Who's looking forward to autumn?!

Day 21 – Your favorite fictional lolita.

I would have to say my favorite fictional Lolita is Alice, from Alice in Wonderland and the other Lewis Carroll stories. Like me, I think Alice feels really out of place in the real world and much happier in Wonderland. I too wish to find a place that satisfies my dark whimsies and longing for something beautiful and sparkly in the world.

Day 19 – What’s in your make-up bag?

So, since I just moved into my college dorm room today (what a dump) I'd give this post a go since all the makeup I brought is literally tucked away in a plastic bag.

I'll list:

1. A small bottle of liquid foundation
2. Three lipsticks.
3. A small eye-shadow palette.
4. Eyeliner.
5. Mascara
6. A compact powder foundation/mirror.

Yup. That's it. If (and when) I decide I need my giant 120 eye-shadow palette, I'll get it later. ^_^

Just wanted to share. Yesterday I made pot-stickers (gyoza) and they turned out wonderfully. I wish I had taken pictures but I completely forgot. Oh well. Next time...since they were a huge success I'm bound to do it again.

(Of course, I grated my thumb open shredding cabbage. v_v )

My Gothic Lolita Bedroom

Welcome to my Spooky Bedroom, muahahahahaa!

Okay, not really, but I do have some stereotypical spooky decor, like spiders, Halloween lights, dangling skeletons, etc. See the sign on my door? Totally awesome right?

I apologize for the disheveled state of my room. Things have been chaotic what with sorting things out and packing for school, so the room may look a bit messy. Apologies. I just wanted to do an entry like this and show off my bedroom before I ship myself off the college on Saturday.

Hajime!

Inside the door, on the left, you'll find my witchcraft altar. I have a crushed velvet purple altar cloth, a lamp, some candles, my Book of Secrets, my Faery Oracle cards wrapped in a lacy kerchief, and some photos of my grandmother as a young woman. Ancestor worship, yo!

Moving on, the closet is to the left (no doors - I had meant to drape heavy black curtains over it, but meh) and next to that is a tall cabinet I store most of my sewing supplies in. I have a body form (mine of course) sitting on a small table next to that. Today it's dressed in a purple t-shirt, a black faux-leather vest, and a top hat. ^_~

I have an Asian floor cabinet full of stuff next to my sewing desk. Above the desk sits a spider-web Halloween light set. The spider in the middle is named Matilda. ^_^ Again, I apologize for all the crap littering my desk and whatnot.

Over my window hangs a lightweight, black damask curtain. In front of that dangles my skeleton buddy, Victor. He glows in the dark.

Yup, I have a futon. It's covered with a handmade quilt my grandma sewed for me a long time ago. Sentimental value and all that. I've also got a slew of plushies hanging out on the bed.

And back around. Oh look, it's Mom's cat!

Day 17 – What do you want more then anything right now?

Right now, I want a shower. I want to eat something yummy. I want to finish packing up my stuff for college.

I want to be able to relax. I want my back to stop hurting. I want the waiting to be over.

Woot Woot ~ Upcoming Meetup!

So I really thought I wouldn't be able to make the Obon Lantern Festival this year with the "local" Lolitas because of school, but it turns out I'm able to go. One of the Lolitas in my local LJ community is also going to the same university so she offered to drive me. Here's the catch: I'll have to skip some of Orientation to do so.

But you know what? That's okay. I'm not all that interested in school spirit and I can track down all my classrooms after moving in on Saturday. So a little foray into campus life in the morning on Sunday, then make sure I look presentable before heading off to the bus stop near Miller Center to get picked up by Tessa.

I'm kind of excited. I always wanted to meet some of the local girls but never thought I'd get a chance. So here it is and I'm not turning it down!!!

Outfit Snap

I was in a foul mood this morning, so to feel better I decided to dress up in a casual Lolita ensemble. I haven't worn this dress in forever and I was kind of longing to, so I threw it on, did some quick makeup, tossed on a hat and called it done. It's really casual, sans petticoat and socks, and probably not strictly "Lolita" to some, but I feel pretty wearing it and it certainly has a summer Victorian vibe to me, so whatever. Here goes:

Today I opted for a casual Kodona look. I paired a frilly blouse with my handmade bloomer shorts, white knee socks, and my new Mary-Jane shoes - which I found at Walmart, lol - along with a hat and some jewelry. This isn't a style I normally wear, but it was fun to experiment!

Day 12 – A picture of yourself before lolita came in to your life.

Before finding the beauty of Lolita fashion, I dressed fairly normal on most days. I actually still have (and wear!) the shirt featured in this photo. I was a lot less beauty conscious back then, but I still had my days when I would wear dresses or go completely Goth.

The only thing that's really changed is that I've added more to my style. ^_^
