Wednesday, a Gothic Aristocrat photoshoot....

...well, kind of. It's not as though I have anyone to take photos of me nor any decent locations in which to do so, so after I dressed up I just snapped a few (cough cough *few* cough) photos in my bedroom and on the porch.

So without further ado:

~Monday Mania~

I honestly have no idea what to write about in regards to last week. It was a lot of up and downs for me, a lot of migraines, and a few days of dressing up. Nevermind my first pap smear, I won't even get into that one...

Earlier in the week, I decided that I would wear my black Bodyline dress with matching hat for a day. It was my first time donning it and I have to say I'm quite impressed with it:

I do apologize for the shoddy quality, my camera seems to despise self-timer.

The day after this little dress up session, I was struck with a migraine and so I didn't do anything on Wednesday. I didn't dress up on Thursday - no wait, I can't even remember the days. I just know that after I wore this I was struck down with a painfully throbbing migraine and then didn't crawl out of pj's for a day.

Chris had ordered me a dress off Bodyline, the Antique Clock print in grey, and the morning it was supposed to arrive we slept through the doorbell and missed it. So of course Speedee Delivery left a note saying it had to be signed for in person, but naturally later in the day no one would be home to sign for it. And you know, after three attempts they send it back.

Luckily, Chris's mom was home in time that afternoon to sign for it and so all was well. I met up with Chris at the local Perkins for coffee around 10 pm and that's when he gave me the package. I was so happy I opened it up right there in the diner!

I wasn't up for a full-on coordinate that night, so I dressed up pretty casual in all offbrand stuff.

~Tights - Target~

~Shoes - Montreal~

On Friday I decided to go all out and dress up in my ensemble. The dress came with a giant head-eating bow, so I figured I would find a way to put it in my hair. And since I'm lacking in hair supplies right now the best I could do was a side ponytail. And that actually ended up working out perfectly.

I didn't dress up at all over the weekend since I had another migraine on Saturday and I felt really cranky on Sunday. Here's to hoping I'll have a more upbeat and productive week!

Photo Post!~

Today, roses, I bring you a picture!~

It's quite a departure from my typical casual/gothic look. It's also the first time I've ever worn such a large bow on the top of my head. What do you think? Can I pull off this darling bittersweet look or should I stick to what I know best?

Monday Mania

I've done quite a bit over the course of last week. For example, I made myself a dress form out of duct tape, with the help of my lovely boyfriend. And since then I've been displaying lots of my clothing on it to help get ideas for new Lolita coordinates. Currently, I've got a dress-in-the-making pinned to it but no pictures. And the dress will have to wait until I get a sewing machine anyhow.

Aside from that, I've been trying to read some of my library books but it's a little difficult when you don't find that much time for yourself anymore. I'm hardly ever home since I spend nearly every night curled up with Chris at his parent's place. But I will endeavor to read them all this week.

I've also decided to take up jewelery making. I got a starter kit for making earrings and necklaces and a few things to make some cute Gothic earrings with so it should be quite fun. Perhaps, if they turn out well, I can sell them in my Etsy shop. So if you like gothic key and charm earrings, stay tuned!

You've already seen photos of my new Bodyline order, so I don't bother to yap about that in this entry. I haven't worn anything out of it yet anyways...it's been so dreary and awful here that I just don't have the energy lately to really dress up nice. But hopefully this week, I'll have photos of more coordinates for you all.

As it stands, I only have this one. It was just something casual and warm I threw together last Tuesday:

Friday: A Review and Update

So yesterday I received my Bodyline order. I'm surprised it arrived so quickly, given the situation in Japan. But I guess DHL got wise and rerouted their stuff. In a world where everyone contacts each other through Email or cellphones, I'm surprised anyone bothered to sort out the mail system right away.

Anywho....

Photo time!

So I'm mostly pleased with this order. The top hat was a little big for my head, which is fine since I got it as a gift for my boyfriend. The bolero is actually a bit snug and doesn't fit around my 34C boobs. Rawr. But I'll still wear it most likely, since it IS comfortable. The dress and matching mini hat are to die for. The dress fits me wonderfully, even without shirring or corset lacing anywhere so I'm quite pleased about that. It's a bit difficult to get the buttons on the front undone but I'm sure it'll become easier the more I wear the dress.

Overall, I give this order a 4/5.

Moving on, as you can see I changed the layout on my blog. I needed something simpler that loaded faster and didn't detract from the posts. The black and pink thing I had going on was a little hard on even my eyes, haha! So I'm much happier with this version.

I don't normally celebrate St. Patrick's Day, being a Celtic pagan and all, but I decided to give in and indulge in the spirit of being awesomely Irish and boozing up. So I wore some cute little black and green number (photos below) and a Shamrock headband, as well as a few pins. When Chris came over we went to the liquor store and bought some Irish beer. Then we watched a few romantic comedies, got a little tipsy, and finally called in a night where we snuggled in my bed for a change. Usually I spend the night as his place.

This morning, as I was watering my little seedlings, I noticed a tiny green thing is poking up through the dirt in the strawberry pot. I would have taken a photo, but my cheap camera couldn't capture something that small and delicate. I also noticed that both my peppers and tomatoes are putting down roots too. So I'm very happy that everything is growing on schedule.

That's all folks. I hope everyone had a wonderful St. Patty's Day and enjoys their weekend. I know I will!

Of seedlings and eggs....

See this darling little thing? Sunflowers. I got seven of them. ^_^

Today was quite eventful. I actually dolled myself - all offbrand of course. I wanted to wear something blue to compliment the rain we had today and since I had a pair of socks with blue in them I figured it would be a great opportunity.

It's a bit difficult to see ( so bright! ) but I've got a handmade blue skirt there, a turquoise blue shirt under the black frilly sweater, lovely socks and a flowery headband. Very simple but still cute.

All I did really was lounge around the house today and experiment with cooking eggs in a basket and try some hand sewing. Which I can tell you, officially sucks.

And that's about it. I hope the rest of you had a lovely Tuesday.

Monday Mania

Cleaning my room:

I made it a point to work on cleaning my room up again today. On Friday I started to rearrange things. I moved my bed to the opposite wall (moving metal futons is NOT fun) and placed my desk in the corner. I now have a separate space for my altar too, which is good. Even though I still have crap lying all over my floor, I decided that today would be a good day to clean out and organize my closet. It might seem kind of fruitless now because once it warms up outside I'm going to take everything out and paint the inside of my closet black...but at least now I have a system and I know where things fit.

I've got all my Lolita stuff hanging on the left and some other random articles of clothing, plus summer dresses, on the right. I sorted through all the boxes that were up top and eliminated most of those so that freed up lots of space. And I'm placing pants, shirts, and summer wear on the pretty purple shelf on the right side.
So I feel quite accomplished.

On the horror in Japan:

I've been following it on the news and all. I really feel sorry for everyone in Japan right now. I guess they've had a number of aftershocks and another small earthquake again. All the tsunami flooding has washed away whole towns and thousands of people are dead.

It's a really horrible situation. Which is why I get REALLY really mad when my friends on Facebook are making jokes about it and such. And now that I'm hearing that a few Lolitas are actually complaining about orders not arriving on time or huzzah-ing the fall of the Yen...it makes me feel almost shameful to call myself a Lolita. Have some compassion girls, this isn't all about you and your latest frills.

How to Help Japan~

The Red Cross has launched efforts to help Japan and you can donate money by visiting their site or texting 90999 from your phone.

Save the Children is also taking part. They are accepting donations as well.

International Medical Corps is responding to the health needs of the disaster's victims. You can donate on their site as well as texting the word MED to 80888 to donate $10.

Monday Mania

Well, I'm finally getting around to the first entry of my Monday theme, the basic week summary of coordinates, events, and random stuff I did last week. I honestly didn't wear too much Lolita last week, since I spent most of it just hanging around with my new boyfriend and I wanted to be comfortable. But I did don a lovely white blouse and a long black Aristocrat skirt on Friday afternoon.

Anyways....last week I visited the local library, which sad to say is rather pathetic. They have a lot less books than when I visited a few years ago and their organizational system is all out of whack. It took me forever to find any books on faeries or Celtic mythology since nothing is really in sections anymore.

I'm hoping this summer to apply to the library and get a job there. Maybe I can help them make more sense of their stuff then.

Otherwise I spent most of my time with Chris when he wasn't working or at school. We hung out here at home or at his parent's place and mostly watched movies. We went out to eat a lot too, and I've gotten quite fond of this local diner called Brook's that's actually going to be demolished this spring to make room for a new Walgreen's or some garbage...rawr.

Well, they're the only place I know that sells waffle fries here in town and I LOVE waffle fries.

Chris and I also watched a couple of Swedish films that are now famous internationally. The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo and the two sequels. They're really amazing films and very intriguing if you like mysteries and foreign films.

If you'd rather not watch the films in Swedish with English subtitles, they are also book version available now, which I saw in Target today.

There's still a bit of drama with my ex going on, but I've got that mostly handled now and hopefully soon I can get some of my stuff back from him. All in all it's been a good week.

For the next Monday Mania edition, I hope to have some photos to show you all. Heh, we'll see.

I do apologize...

For my delayed updates...

You see, I've had a spot of computer trouble. To be exact, I contracted some rather nasty viruses on my laptop and for the past few weeks I've been trying to sort it all out. In the end I had to wipe my computer and reinstall my OS. What a bother.

So, just in case you were wondering what had become of me, now you know. Since my computer is now fully operational, expect more frequent entries here!
