I noticed that everyone's always going on about what makes a lolita blouse, what makes a lolita skirt, what makes lolita accessories and so forth, but shoes seem to be topic that most people don't delve THAT deeply into.
And why not? It's a pair of shoes that can make or break an outfit, they say, and I'm inclined to agree.
In my eyes, the most lolita-esque shoe is the mary-jane. It's the quintessential little girl shoe, but today there are so many variations that you don't have to stick with black patent leather. You can find mary-jane shoes in all colors, with heels, with platforms, with heart buckles or velcro straps...the choices are nearly endless. And you can get them anywhere, from Demonia to Payless and sometimes even Wal-mart.
After that, I think rocking horse shoes are the next big shoe staple in a lolita wardrobe. Originally designed by Vivienne Westwood and popularized by punk rockers, these shoes are seen often in the lolita community and can be found on lots of ebay shops selling lolita gear. They come in black, white, red, etc and feature either a strap or a ribbon to secure them to your ankle.
The so-called "tea party" shoe. Extremely popular in sweet lolita, you can find this shoe sold at most sweet lolita brand sites/shops and also on Bodyline or Ebay.
Next to that would be the heart-buckle flats, also found solely in sweet lolita.
Our gothic lolita friends often rock either a nice chunky or platform mary-jane, but lets not forget boots. A cool combat boot can work wonderfully in many punk and gothic coordinate, but there are also boots for classic and sweet lolitas too:
And that about covers your shoe options, but if you find something else that you think would work great in a lolita coordinate, post a pic and tell me!

A magazine for the western lolitas?
Japan has the Gothic and Lolita Bible. Come to think, even America has that now, thanks to TokyoPop, but unless you feel like trooping down to your local bookstore and scouring the racks for it (and you might not even find it) you're out of luck.
But wait!
Some genius lolitas have put together an online magazine for western lolitas like you and me! And even better...it's free!
Here you can view western lolita style watches and see what girls around the world are wearing, get tips on how to do perfect manicures/pedicures, defending yourself as a lolita, and lots of information on where to get sweets jewelery and new clothes!
They're always looking for submissions too, so if you have a great coordinate you want others to see, why not submit it to them? Have you written an article about something lolita-related or have a great makeup tutorial? Send it to them! It's contributors like us that keep this magazine alive.

New Things That I Want!
Okay, so I'm a huge fan of brands like Bodyline *le gasp!* and some of those Chinese brands like Punk Rave. So I'm going to compile a list of things (photos included) that I want from these brands and such. Who knows...you might find something in here that even you like!
Bodyline Dress: Black Bows and Ruffles
Bodyline Set: White/Cream Set
Bodyline Jumperskirt: Black Punk JSK
Bodyline Jumperskirt: Stripes!
Bodyline Blouse: Black
Bodyline Blouse: Aristocrat
Bodyline Blouse: White
Bodyline Skirt: Punk Skirt
Bodyline Skirt: Black Skirt
The next set of clothing all comes from the Ebay stores Wai1222 Collection and Little Chili Lolita Shop:
Punk Rave: Black Shirt with Bell Sleeves
Punk Rave: Velvety Blouse
Punk Rave: Black Frag Skirt
Punk Rave: Assymetrical Skirt
Punk Rave: Long Aristocrat Skirt
Rocking Horse Shoe: Black RHS with Ribbon
And so there you have it. My "current" list of items to drool over. It's really sad being a lolita with no money, because it means you can only window shop and it's heartbreaking to see an item you wanted disappear or undergo a price increase. Someday I'll have money for these things though....even if I have to acquire them piece by piece over the next year or so.

RAAGE!
So, What Not To Wear gets it's first (and likely only) Lolita victim and look how they bash her. Granted, her look isn't strictly lolita, but she's got a lot of cute items. Expensively cute items...and they just trash it all.
Even more than that, their complete ignorance into what the Gothic Lolita subculture is (and that it's no longer just a fashion in Japan) makes me extremely pissy.
Having said that, I think Lexa is kind of a bitch and probably shouldn't be considered a very good lolita, since her attitude could give a bad name to the rest of us.
We really can't complain though, because ultimately she accepted the $5000 and opted to be on the show. If she didn't want this to happen to her, should have graciously declined.

Where to Shop?
If you're new to the lolita community , you may be wondering where all these girls get their lovely clothes. I'll admit, a lot of it probably is brand, but if you're like me and you can't afford to shuck out over $200 for a dress...then THIS is the entry for you!
You may be a seasoned lolita looking for new places to get some original or different items as well. This is also for you!
So let's get started with what we can find in North America and Europe, shall we:

Not all of these stores are specifically lolita, but they carry lolita items or pieces that could work well with a lolita wardrobe. I invite you to browse through these websites and see what you like best.
And now for the threads from Japan! Be prepared to deal out big bucks for some of this stuff:

~http://www.bodyline.co.jp/bodyline/~ Cheap!

And those are just the big names!
Any trusted Ebay sellers? Why, I'm glad you asked. In fact, I can direct you to a few that I believe to be of excellent quality (seeing as I've purchased from them before!)

http://stores.ebay.com/Little-Chili-Lolita-Shop
Still at a loss? Well, you do have one last option. Visit your local fabric store, grab a few yards of a cute fabric and then go in search of some online lolita sewing tutorials. Yes, you can make your very own lolita fashion and if you're savvy with a needle and thread, it's a great way to make your own custom designs!
Even if you can't afford brand, don't give up on lolita if you really love it.

Goodness it's been a while since I've updated. I do apologize....but then again I don't think that many people read this blog yet anyways.
It seems that I've fallen into a style rut. I still adore the gothic lolita fashion, but I haven't really felt motivated to wear it. Let's face it...putting this stuff on can be time consuming and exhausting.
So how to lift yourself out of such a rut? Well, here's my plan:
1. Start slow - If you don't feel up to donning petticoats and stockings today, don't. Just add something cute to your normal attire. A bow in your hair, a pearl necklace, something lacey even.
2. Reaffirm your love of the skirt - this doesn't even have to be a lolita skirt. Any skirt will do at this point.
3. Style your hair and do your makeup - No need for theatre makeup either. I'm talking simple mascara and some cute lip gloss. Do this every day until it seems like a routine for you.
4. Opt for your favorite lolita dress - you're the most comfortable in this one, so this is the perfect way to ease back in.
5. Complete the look - slip your petticoat(s) underneath, add some stockings and accessories and you're good to go. By now this should feel natural...see how nice it is when you take baby steps back into something as complex as lolita?
Now I suppose I should take my own advice. And I suppose I will. But I'm going to straight to number 4 simply because there's particular dress I feel like wearing today. But I'm not going to bother with hair or makeup. I'm not leaving the house today. ^_^
